Uncapping is a difficult timely process. When the bees are satisfied that the honey in the comb is properly cured they put a cap of wax to seal and protect it. In order to extract the honey the cap has to be broken or cut off. Beekeepers use an uncapping tool that is heated to cut off a very slim sheet of wax off the frame.
